The Keepsake by @SexyMuffyWilson ~ Flash Fiction Friday

This was a hard inspirational photo to write a 100 word flash. But it did remind me of my spontaneous honeymoon in Carson City, Nevada, after an even more spontaneous marriage to my husband thirty years ago. It was great fun and we did have fantastic period photos made after a few margaritas. This picture made me think of that.

Once you have read my short flash, have a giddy-up over to the other participating authors and see what they came up with about this very inspirational photo. They are lined up below like horses tied up at a saloon below or you can find them on our author page here.

The Keepsake

Their honeymoon trip to the old west town, Carson City, was fun. They had, laughingly, tin-type photos made: he, in a vested morning coat and top hat, while she stood in a lace wedding dress, hand on a very pregnant protruding belly holding a Colt 45 to his head.

But the real keepsake was the photo of the smoking boy with a chicken they purchased.

Strangely, ever since they returned home, they occasionally caught a whiff of stale cigarette smoke, often finding ashes, and in the early hours of the morning they heard a rooster crow.

Neither smoked and that was only the beginning….
