The Journey’s End by @SexyMuffyWilson ~ Flash Fiction Friday

It has been a few weeks, and while I am still not feeling my best, I took an unexpected stab at today's Will Blog for Sex challenge: 100 word story about the photo below. I love this photo and while I selected it for the group, I had no idea at the time what I would write. I did not know until moments ago.

I hope you enjoy it and the others offered by my co-participants in this end of week entertainment. Check them out here.

Enjoy ~  ☼ o√ ¸.¨¯`*..*˜"*°
The Journey’s End
The room, dimly lit, grew darker while family surrounded the bed. All the people she loved joined her.

She lay, small and frail as the scented lavender candle burned filling the room with her favorite scent and cast an ethereal glow over her face.

She looked radiantly young again. A hush fell as she fought for breath to speak.

“You have enriched my life beyond measure. Do not miss me. Know that I am with you in everything you love—the wind, the sea, your children. And you are with me.”

With that, the shackles of her pain broke, and she was free.

    1. I am so sorry for your loss, KB. We fail to appreciate the bond that seals two people together so totally throughout life. Decades of love, life and laughter explain the hidden secrets that only those of us who have experienced such depth in love can appreciate. You are blessed...as am I. Thank you for your visit and comment. Speak joyously of your love and celebrate her life. xo

  5. Poignant, sad, and subtly highlighting the beauty and freedom of passing on. I love your interpretation of the pic, symbolizing a throwing-off of shackles, pain, and unwanted burdens. The depth of this piece slowly sinks in.

  6. My heart ached for her and caught in my throat as she spoke. Gave me goosebumps even. Powerfully written and so full of pure emotion, sad yet happy knowing she'll be free of her pain and that she has lived a full and adventurous life. Wonderful flash!!

I was born when we kissed; I died when we parted. I lived in your embrace while we loved..........
