City Nights: One Night in Madrid by JD Martins ~ Out ***NOW***

City Nights: One Night in Madrid
by
JD Martins

Blurb:

Danny left Dublin for Madrid two years ago, but still scans the crowd in the Irish pubs for the face of someone from home. Though doubtful he'll ever recognise anybody, one evening he sees Aisling, a girl he'd known - or wished he'd known - at university. Beautiful but haughty, she'd always ignored Danny, and though he'd fantasised about making love to her, she'd never so much as smiled at him.

To his amazement, Aisling is extremely friendly when she meets him all these years later and away from home. She is still snobby and condescending, but Danny decides to make her night as enjoyable as he can, hoping for one last chance to impress her and make his teenage fantasies come true. As the sultry Madrid night progresses, mere lust grows into affection, and Danny begins to see her snobbery as something else entirely. Will Aisling see Danny as more than just a way to pass her night in Madrid?

Excerpt:

Draining the glass, Danny placed it on the bar, debating whether to have another pint, or stroll home and have a glass of wine while he prepared dinner. The plan was just one pint, but he needed to tell himself that twice; once when he went into the bar and again when he'd finished the drink.

And then he saw her.

She stood quite near, surrounded by a tight knot of people at the edge of the dance floor that had parted momentarily. She wore a cotton summer dress that showed the sweep of her shoulder blades and spine. The dress was floral, red with splashes of black and dark blue. She wore soft brown leather sandals that were almost invisible against her tanned feet. Her toenails were painted red but her fingernails were French polished. A silver or white-gold bracelet hung from her right wrist, and on her left she wore a silver wristwatch, which a discreet look later told him was a Patek Philippe. In her ears she had diamond stud earrings, and on the ring finger of her right hand was a silver ring with a blue stone he couldn't identify.

He didn't see her face straight away, yet something deep inside him said it had to be her.
In college, he'd often stared at this girl's long blonde hair from a few seats behind in the lecture theatre, while far below them a maths professor droned on about matrices. He knew the shape of her head and neck, had observed her tie up that hair, amazed at the beauty of the fine, straight filaments, the way the strands slid like silk over one another, yet held as one tight rope. When she was an infant her mother had clearly decided ever cutting such hair would be a sin, and she’d concurred. She plaited it, put it in a ponytail, tied it up around a clip made of what seemed to Danny like a piece of wood and two chopsticks, or simply a spare pencil. Sometimes it splayed out across her shoulders like a cascade of spun gold. Now it was pulled up in a silver clasp, to reveal the nape of a long, fine neck, and soft-skinned shoulders.

Those shoulders had been bared before, in a hot September of their freshman year, and later, during the intense study month when the cherry blossoms bloomed and fell across the lawns of campus. Danny had fantasised about slipping off that shoulder strap, letting the silky string fall down along her arm, trailing his fingers along her collarbone and ribs and pushing aside the top to expose her breasts.

When she turned around in the bar and he saw her face, Danny instantly searched through his memory to match her visage, and see all six numbers of recognition. It came out a winner. She stared back at him, her brain no doubt doing the same. Although still early, and most—apart from the pre-marriage revellers—were only on their second or third drink, Danny thought she must have been fairly merry already, because as she recognised him she smiled.

She’d never smiled at him before—not in four years of college. Then again, they’d not interacted much. They'd never really talked, never attended the same classes after second year. He'd always told himself she’d never smiled at him because she didn’t know him. Once or twice, of course, she'd turned around, casually, and seen him. But she'd seen lots of others sitting behind her, too. The back rows of the lecture theatre were filled with Danny's friends, who'd varying levels of interest in her hair and the maths lecture; from zero to all-absorbed.

The chance to get to know her had never come around. She'd majored in chemistry, Danny in computer science. He had taken a chemistry class in second year, but she'd always seemed to sit on the opposite side of the theatre then. His gaze had often paused upon her face as he searched through those assembled in a lecture the way he did through the throng of a bar.

She was stunning. Her frame was that of someone who was fit without effort. A swimmer or a gymnast at some point, she had a fine body, breasts the way Hemingway described, wide womanly hips and a behind that eyes or hands could never tire of. She had crystal blue eyes like deep Antarctic ice, and a button nose. Her mouth was perfect. Her teeth had had money spent on them, but her lips were natural; she had a dazzling smile. But before that moment in a Madrid bar, Danny had only received the coldness of those glacial eyes.

Bio:

JD Martins has been called Spanish, Mexican, Chinese, Philippine and English and Australian. He is none of these.

He's lived in four cities in three countries on two continents, but he doesn't feel like he's travelled very much. His life in each city was rather mundane and he didn't get out much - tending to move his pen more than his body.

He still aspires to see much more of the world - probably when his wife becomes rich enough to let him retire from day jobs.

He would like to live like Ernest Hemmingway: periodically sending novel manuscripts to his publisher from various far-flung corners of the world, though he's not sure the quality will be quite the same. Until then, he has contented himself with living like Robert Graves - in a pleasant part of Spain with a quiet life - and being able to do some things that Hemmingway did - trout fishing in Spain, game hunting in Africa, watching bullfights and running with the bulls, - and a few that he did not get to do - surfing, skydiving, bungee jumping, and getting erotic stories published.

Desiring Death by Christina Mandara ~ Out ***NOW*** @cpmandara #newrelease #iamwriting #cpmandara #rafflecopter

Desiring Death
by
Christina Mandara

Violetta is an executioner… of vampires. Famed for her fiery beauty and mesmerising personality, she has never failed an assignment.
Monsieur Martinet is no ordinary vampire, though. He is a master at his craft and can control humans with the merest flick of his eyelids. The vampire huntress with the porcelain skin and flaming red hair has killed all of his brethren, without exception. He now seeks the ultimate revenge: her submission in HIS bed.
If he’s allowed to stay alive long enough, that is.

twitteradd676

Do You Want to Fight Me?

‘Do you want to fight me, princess? Do you want to slam those little fists of yours against my chest and call me names?’
She didn’t answer him. Her voice was locked away within her throat once more, at his request. He had obviously heard enough this evening. Her job was to lay there and look pretty, she guessed. Oh dear God.
Black ropes slithered up her limbs, and they coiled around her flesh in a serpentine fashion, winding themselves tighter and tighter, tugging at her limbs. No.
‘I want you spread wide open for me, Violetta. That way you’ll be ready to be taken at a moment’s notice. I’ll also be able to see how aroused you are for me, and I think you like this body of mine, don’t you, Vi?
Her grunt of protest remained trapped inside her head, but she knew he heard it.
‘Oh, I know you find me attractive. Now we’re going to work on needs, wants and desires. I’m going to train you to be desperate for the slightest touch my hand may choose to bestow upon your flesh. We’re going to make you a hungry, panting, pathetic little slave who lives for nothing more than to pleasure and serve the capricious notions of her master. I’ve developed quite an overactive imagination over the years, I’ll have you know. We’re going to have so much fun together, you and I.’
The words were lost in her head, but they echoed over and over. The rope was reeling her arms and legs tightly into the wooden corners of the four poster bed and she was beginning to resemble a large ‘X’ shape. Try as she might, bracing her arms and legs against the firm tugs did not help in the slightest. Finally, she was splayed out to the ropes satisfaction and the pressure against her wrists and ankles lessoned slightly.
Martinet ran his index and middle finger up and around the small ridge of her ankle. He watched intently as she sucked in air. At this moment in time her mind did not like his fingers upon her. Her body called her a liar, though, and trembled at the ridiculously light touch.
His fingers then dived under the glistening organza of her gown and crept up a shapely calf. Tiny little steps that did little more than tickle her, but she got noticeably more nervous as they tiptoed higher and higher.
‘You never thanked me for the arm, you know.’
Violetta told him, in no uncertain terms, just what he could do with his thank you.
‘Tsk, tsk. A lady never swears.’ He grinned at her, letting the pads of his fingers brush up against the delicate skin of her inner thigh. The nervous pounding of her heart and the flush of heat that turned her cheeks from alabaster to cherry almost instantly, told him all he needed to know. His fingers wandered higher.
‘Don’t. Stop.’ The whispered plea inside her head was frantic.
‘Oh, I don’t intend to,’ he said, deliberately misunderstanding her and without warning his hand clamped around her sex. She rose up into him and gasped. It appeared that her body was once again under her control. Oh who was she kidding? The vamp played her better than Hendrix played the guitar. He knew when to stroke, when to cajole and, more importantly, when to strike.
‘My goodness, you’re not wearing any panties,’ he exclaimed with a devilish gleam in his eyes. ‘Why you wanton little…’ Martinet didn’t finish his last word. Now that Violetta had regained the use of her voice, she was about to use it at the top of her lungs. Unfortunately, Martinet was once again one step ahead of her, and his face was rapidly descending towards hers. The scream that had been bursting to escape just seconds ago, curdled in her throat. Her body pulled against the ropes. Not to get away from him, as it should have, but to move closer. She wanted those talented lips on hers. She wanted his hands on her fevered, naked flesh and already, she craved the intense pleasure that he could so easily bestow upon her. Covering her lips with his own, he breathed her in. She, on the other hand, couldn’t breathe at all. His hands were running up her arms, tracing delicate, rambling patterns on her flesh, while his tongue might have been forked like a dragon’s, for it spilled sparkling flames of fire wherever it landed. The ropes rubbed tightly against her wrists and ankles, but she didn’t give a damn. She drank him in whole and writhed sinuously underneath his body, begging for more of the same.
‘Isn’t it hideously embarrassing to be this attracted to your jailor?’ His lips left hers with a soft pop and for a moment she just blinked in surprise. Her body was still pulling against her bonds, trying to get ever closer to her talented antagonist. It was horribly humiliating. That alone made her furious.

I am running late and my Flash Fiction Friday is just going up. Life! Drat...there is never enough time, but who in their right mind could let this fabulous subject photo featuring Jimmy Thomas go without participating--it is soooooo inspirational.

When you are through with me, have a slither over to all the other participating writers and see how this photo inspired their muse. You are sure to be entertained.

Enjoy ~  ☼ღஜ レo√乇 ¸.☆¨¯`*.✿.*˜"*° ♥
Hot and Humid Adonis
(Photo compliments of cover model Jimmy Thomas and romancenovelcovers.com)

Wind blew sand everywhere, and it stuck because it was hot and humid on the beach. The salty sand laden air wrapped around everything it touched and crawled into the tightest crevices…every crack and cleft. She could barely stand it—but she did—until he collected his things to leave for the public showers.

He was an Adonis that crept into her while she admired him in the golden sun.

Her voice caught in the tight squeeze of her throat when he turned.

“Mind helping me rinse these off?” as she gave the top drawstring a tug releasing her breasts.

A Taste of Thursday, 5 February 2015 ~ Could It Be? @sexymuffywilson #iamwriting #tasteofthursday

I love today, and that is this Thursday and every Thursday. I get a chance to share a bit of my heart and soul from a WIP. I have submitted this manuscript to Kensington Book Publishing and am waiting by the mailbox for a notice, acceptance or rejection. See what you think I should receive.

In today's taste, the family is going to the Shed Aquarium in Chicago and then on to several appointments regarding live donor transplants and Lily's treatment. They have just left and Maddie, the housekeeper, is going to tidy up after breakfast and then go tidy the guest house where Lily and her mother, Jordan, are staying and slept the night before.

After you have finished reading my 400 word short, please visit my writing partners blogs and have a quick read of theirs. You are sure to find something you cannot live without knowing the ending.

Enjoy ~  ☼ღஜ レo√乇 ¸.☆¨¯`*.✿.*˜"*° ♥
The Main House and Guest House Grounds
Maddie handed the coffee to Jordan and she grabbed some toast before they all poured into the limousine for the trip to downtown Chicago and to the Shedd. There was unbridled excitement and jubilance surrounding the family excursion and the house became eerily quiet within seconds after the oak front door closed.

Maddie walked back to the kitchen and sat for a long while, sipping coffee and eating the cold left-over toast and eggs. She planned on slicing up the rib roast from the night before and making some gravy and mashed potatoes for open-faced sandwiches that night. Mr D told her that they were sending the children home after the Shedd so they could make their appointments at Northwestern. She thought it wise to have something ready for their return if any one of the children were hungry tonight. She knew this trip was mostly about Lily, but she still did not understand the intricacies, only that she was one sick little girl and Simon was going to try to help her.

That was just like him, she thought. He was such a good man for someone so educated, traveled, world renowned and, well, wealthy. Not all wealthy people were generous, but he was and not only with friends and family, but seemingly everyone who needed help.

She originally thought it was because of Talia, but he had been generous for as long as she had known him. She knew he was generous to a fault with all his employees, and of course turn-over was rare. She was giving herself a headache thinking about all of this.

She just knew they were all in good hands. Maddie said a silent prayer that he would be able to find the help Lily needed to save her life; she was such a precious child.

Maddie cleaned up the kitchen, started some laundry, sliced the standing rib roast and cleaned and quartered the potatoes for the night’s meal. She made up Mr D’s room, cleaned his dressing area and tidied the rest of the house before going out to the guest house. She let herself in and immediately began straightening the cozy two bedroom cottage. The two girls made little mess, but it was clear that Jordan had been up late. She made Lily’s bed and cleaned her bathroom. She went into the room in which Jordan had her things, and it was clean and straightened. Clearly Jordan had not slept in her bed during the night.

Had she slept in the main house? Oh, God - had she slept with Mr D?

Excerpt:

“You up there?” she called. The thud of footsteps grew louder as she made her way up the stairs. It wasn’t long before she was in the doorway, hands on hips, surrounded by a halo of curls the same colour as her temper.
The dog had followed and was panting by her leg. April batted her away, and Max rolled his eyes at the anger and frustration that exuded from her every pore, turning his back on her and dropping the towel.
“What the hell, Max?” she exclaimed, but it wasn’t because of his nudity. She’d seen him naked more times than any other woman.
He stepped into a pair of tight boxer shorts and turned around, preparing himself for the grief he had been hoping to avoid. “What have I done now?” he asked, walking towards the wardrobe and pulling out a pair of dark, shredded jeans.
“What’s the point? Do you even remember her name?”
He didn’t answer. She wasn’t expecting him to; she never did. Fastening the button on his waistband, he went to the chest of drawers and took out a clean T-shirt.
“Well, I’ll tell you what her name was,” April said, walking into the room. “Mellie Banks. Ring a bell?”
Max shrugged.
“It should,” she snapped. “Her father has three horses on this yard, or did until he turned up this morning and took them off.”
He moved behind her and started to massage at the knot of tension that had built at the base of her neck.
“Don’t try to appease me, Max,” she said, but he could tell that her anger was waning. He continued to press into her muscles, letting his thumbs make small circles either side of her spine. Bending his head to the curve of her shoulder, he placed his forehead on the sleeve of her polo T-shirt and took a deep breath, inhaling the dusty scent of straw and shavings.
“I’m sorry,” he murmured into her back.
She shrugged out of his touch and turned to face him. “You’re hopeless,” she sighed. The corners of her lips flickered into the smallest of smiles.
“We could just hide in bed all day,” he said, taking her hands and tugging her forwards. “Forget about Mellie Banks. Forget about the yard…”
“And who’s going to pay my bills when this place falls on its arse?”
The edge of the mattress connected with his knees and he fell backwards, pulling her with him. “You know I’ll always take care of you.”
She landed on top of him, inches away from his face. He lifted a hand and tucked a stray red curl behind her ear. With a frustrated groan, she rolled off of him and lay on her side.
“As much as I would like to be the next notch on your bedpost, we have a business to run.” She shoved herself up.
He watched as she straightened her clothes and ran her fingers through her hair.
“Anyway,” she said, glancing over her shoulder. “I’m not your type. I have a brain.” She flashed him a smile before bending down to pick up the towel and tossing it in his direction.
“Ouch.” He feigned a hurt expression before getting up to follow her. Bracken panted around his ankles.
“I’ll make you a coffee, and then if you need me I’ll be saving your business.”

Tantalyzing Tuesday, 3 Febuary 2015 ~ The Felony of Neglect #iamwriting #writing #crime

Tantalyzing Tuesday and I have a short for you based upon the photos below. I wrote a piece as a stand in for my friend Pablo Michaels on Daily Picspiration and used it as the "Mother" of this piece. So, if you want to read more, it is about 400 more words only, you can find it here.

I hope you enjoy this little bit darker side of my creativity and, if you do, please leave a comment. Then, there are wonderful writers in our group that have written a 200 word piece based upon a photograph of their choice. Run along and read their submissions, too. They are listed below and in the links sprinkled throughout. Love 'n Hugs. xo

The Felony of Neglect

“I live here! My daughter…where’s my daughter?!”

“Lady, stop!”

“Fuck you! Where’s my daughter?!”

“Ma’am…”

A giant of a man emerged from her house, stood in the doorway and blocked out the light behind him.

“Let her go.”

The traces of her daughter’s ordinary, everyday presence overwhelmed her and she collapsed into the chair, crying. The remains of her daughter’s existence surrounded her in a still-life; the controlled chaos whirled around the inside of her home. It seemed like a dream, a netherworld of dual dimensions separated by a fine film of reality. The pandemonium faded to mute as she focused on the simple bowl of fruit that was placed on the coffee table in front of the couch.

She was late.

Her hungry daughter was left to fix her own dinner and she put a healthy compote of fruit together to eat. If she returned on time, her daughter would be here now and they would be eating the mac and cheese she planned to make for dinner. But, there it was—a simple bowl of fruit—marking her daughter’s disappearance.

It was the glaring evidence of her crime silently screaming, accusing her of the felony of her neglect.

Going the Distance by Julianna Keyes ~ Available ***NOW***

GOING THE DISTANCE

Buy from Amazon | B&N

Olivia Clarke’s fall from pretty, perfect and popular happened in an instant. With her life in tatters, she impulsively accepts a teaching job in the small city of Lazhou, China. Three months in, she’s ready to admit she made a huge mistake. She doesn’t speak Mandarin, the teachers at her school refuse to include her in anything, and she spends her nights watching counterfeit DVDs in her twin bed. Alone.

Jarek McLean is a loner. He’s not looking for friends, and he’s definitely not looking for love. The former army interrogator works as a carpenter for a small construction company rebuilding a travel office in Lazhou. When he meets Olivia he knows immediately she’s too wholesome to be his type, but when he discovers the pretty kindergarten teacher is hiding a secret, his inquisitive side rears its nosy head and demands answers.

Olivia isn’t interested in a one-sided interrogation, and makes her position clear: if Jarek wants to ask questions, he’ll have to answer some, too. Jarek’s never let anyone in—not into his apartment, not into his life, certainly not into his heart. But the closer he gets to Olivia, the more he falls for her, and suddenly the man who doesn’t do relationships finds himself in a most unexpected one. When he reluctantly admits that this could be love, he’s faced with the most terrifying question of all: What the hell does he do now?

The wooden door swung open, leaving them with the outer door, composed of a series of thick metal bars, between them. Olivia wore sweatpants, wool socks, and a threadbare white T-shirt with a high school logo straining across her breasts. Her blond hair was pulled up in a messy bun, and she wore no makeup. She looked him up and down, gaze lingering on his peace offering, then she took a deep breath. “What’s this?” she asked.

“Let me in.” Jarek tilted his head so rain water dripped off the ends of his curly hair.

“What do you want?”

“Ritchie told me about your accident.”

“I’m fine.”

“Just open the door.”

She looked ready to argue, then her eyes flitted back to the bags in his hands and she reached gingerly for the keys on the table inside the door, selecting one and twisting it in the lock. She stepped back as he entered, closing the doors behind him, and he stepped out of his shoes and hung his wet coat on a chair.

“It’s fucking pouring,” he said, for lack of anything better. “Where’s your bathroom?”

The apartment was small, just four rooms leading immediately off the main entrance area, and he could see into three of them from where he stood—bedroom, office, and kitchen—so he went into the fourth, found a hand towel, and dried his face and hair. When he emerged, Olivia was peeking into the bags.

“I brought you dinner, in case you hadn’t eaten.”

“I haven’t.”

“What were you doing?”

“Getting ready to watch a movie.”

“Want to eat first?”

She looked him over strangely. “Sure.”

There were only two chairs at the small table, so she took one and he took the other, peering around the sterile room. White tile floors, white-painted plaster walls, neon tube lights on the ceiling. A few handmade posters with English and Chinese words written on them.

“Do those help?” Jarek asked, nodding at the posters as he twisted the caps off the bottles of Sprite.

Olivia peered into both takeout containers. “As much as knowing the word for ‘nose’ can, I suppose. What is this?”

He leaned forward to study the contents of one container; he had ordered it based on the picture, but couldn’t possibly identify it now. “I’m not sure.”

The second dish was the one they’d had the first night, so Olivia took that and he ate the mystery meal, which wasn’t bad. They barely spoke and she avoided his gaze, though she didn’t look angry. Tired, maybe. But not angry.

When half her food was gone, Olivia polished off the Sprite and pushed her container away. “Do you want this? I’m full.”

He’d finished his own meal. “No. I’m good.”

She stood and took the carton to the narrow fridge that stood in the corner of the room, its only furniture apart from the table. When she closed the door, he was standing behind her. She jumped and clasped a hand to her chest. “What are you doing?”

“Don’t take this the wrong way,” he began, “but take off your shirt.”
