| To Live for Love |
She slept.
The moon dimmed—faded—into a bright, creeping, and penetrating
hesitation that suggested it would not return. As the sun slowly rose, her body weakened and, exhausted, she wilted like heated petals as the sun broke the horizon.
At night they loved with the same heat and passion the sun
washed upon the day.
At sunrise, he protected her while she renewed
her vitality, restored her strength, and replenished her life-force. He lay beside her, contentedly, sharing her heartbeat and breath wrapped in her embrace.
He finally slept, to rise as her lover when the stars
opened the night again.
