But the last thing Stormy wanted was to hang around Devon Drake any longer than necessary. He had filled out since high school with pure muscle. Like Chutes and Ladders, Devon Drake had taken the big ladder from handsome to gorgeous. Hanging around might mean the revival of old feelings, leaving her vulnerable to rejection again. It was destined to happen, since he had a hot, high-powered girlfriend. Stormy needed to watch her step. He wasn’t available, but nobody had told her heart that. He sat up, his gaze glued to her. She hummed the tune “The Stripper” as she unzipped and peeled off her jacket. The man slid his chair closer to the window. She began to dance slowly. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see people on the sidewalk had stopped moving. She took a deep breath and eased her sweater up as slowly as possible. Now, the man in the headphones was gesturing and talking. The others in the room turned to stare. Stormy kept humming and dancing. She was getting into it. Ignoring the cold, she pulled her sweater over her head, twirled it around, and flung it at a man standing nearby. He caught it and applauded.
 
CHARACTER BIO
Stormy Gregory - Life hadn’t been easy for Stormy Gregory. The fighting between her parents drove her to seek the friendship of the two kids down the block, Samantha and Devon Drake.
Stormy continued her friendship with Devon and became Samantha’s shadow in high school. Until he broke her heart. They went their separate ways.
After getting her degree in nutrition, Stormy found a job far from home in Bolton, Illinois. She worked part-time in two senior centers, planning meals. She found success and friendship there with the older crowd, and a little romance with the director.
An old acquaintance from high school looked her up, seeking help finding a job and a new start. She did what she could, but resisted his advances. He became hostile, then violent, forcing her to flee.
Not knowing where to turn, Stormy contacted her old friend, Samantha Drake. Sam made space for her friend in the shelter where she volunteered. During an event, she bumped into Devon Drake.
Stormy hadn’t expected the encounter. It had been fifteen years since she’d seen him. Instead of hating him for past hurts, warm feelings resurfaced. Stormy pushed them down, figuring she couldn’t compete with a super model. Simply being near Devon Drake made her pulse jump. She needed to get away, but the man who had hit her showed up at her door. She had nowhere to go, or did she?

If I was them, I’d probably steer clear of me too, at least most of the time. No one is ever mean to me; I’ve grown up with most of them, and on my bad days, they try to ignore me. Before us, nearly filling up the room and taller than either of us, stands the golden shrine of Tutankhamun. I remembered what else lay in that room. Inside that shrine are three more, each a bit smaller than the outside one. All tucked inside each other like those nesting dolls from my grandmother’s childhood. Inside the last shrine were the four sarcophagi of Tut, each displaying him in golden and jeweled splendor. 
The last one holds the famed mask of the golden boy. And beneath that, the body of the young pharaoh who now stands here before me. Beyond my understanding, he has been given back his human form, allowed to return one last time to restore honor to his family, one last time to find his true love. And here I am, trying to help, trying to understand, trying to stay alive. Will I ever be able to go home again? Or will I become as lost as Hesena?

I am a retired high school English teacher. A devourer of books growing up, my profession introduced me to writings and authors from times long past. Through my studies and teaching, I fell in love with the Ancient and Medieval Worlds. Now, I hope to inspire young readers to read more through my Quest Books set in these worlds.

“Who says I’m moving in?” Dani came out of the bedroom wearing Griffin’s Rolling Stones t-shirt, her hair in a ponytail, still somehow managing to look like a seductive siren any red-blooded heterosexual captain would gladly steer his ship into rocks for. 
“I say you’re moving in,” Griffin shrugged. “Want a donut, mate?” he grabbed the bag from Brody and held it out to her. 
“Yes, I want a donut!” she exclaimed, peering into the bag. She grabbed a plain glazed one. “And don’t you try ordering me around, Griffin Tago,” she snapped with a grin. “I will live where I want to, when I want to!”
Brody’s mouth dropped open in surprise, and he noticed his old pal getting that look of his, the one that said there was going to be a big fight if she didn’t get with the program. “I just remembered I need to... umm...” He stood up, having no idea what to make up, and positive that neither would notice him walking out at this point. Hi! I'm a New York Times Bestselling author from the Midwestern United States. I'm an avid reader of anything romance! I've worked as a travel agent, nursing assistant, and a paralegal before chasing my dream of full-time writing. I love to travel, swim, cook, and I'm more than a little addicted to a certain social media website...
Currently, I write paranormal and science-fiction romance. My plan is to branch out in several romance sub-genres, but my books will always end in the infamous happily ever after.

Fun facts about me: 1. I love birds! I have one (a parakeet). 2. I’m double-jointed, which led to teasing as a kid (which I also found funny)! 3. I have a shoe addiction! Mainly embellished flip-flops, but other kinds too (not heels, I’d break my ankles). 4. I missed a college 4.0 GPA in the very last semester when one professor gave me a B (still upset about that!)! 5. I am very OCD about certain things (see #6). 6. I have an extensive DVD/Blu-ray collection and it has to be kept in alphabetical order! 7. My favorite vacations involve a cruise. I’ve been on 15 so far! 8. I’m quiet and sort of shy until I get to know a person. 9. I’m quick witted and believe sarcasm is my best friend. 10. I hate hot weather.
