Destiny’s Favor Synopsis:

His world shifted the moment she was born. Now, nothing can stop him from making her his. Imagine meeting a man who looks like an angel, wings and all? What would you do if this man told you he existed with only one purpose – to claim you and only you? Destiny Carter is a feisty, take charge, Rubinesque beauty with a tough façade, who finds herself in that age old quandary, “always a bridesmaid, never a bride.” A string of lackluster relationships leave her hopeless and ready to settle…Until she meets Japheth, the man her fiancé claims is his best friend! Japheth’s arrival is heralded by an attack on Destiny’s life, and instinctively, she knows this is just the beginning. Born more than 200 years ago, Japheth looks like an angel but he’s far from it. In his world, the ratio of men to women is 500 to 1, and although he’s a superior being, he’s willing to break the most sacred law of his brothers, even drink human blood, to have one meant for him alone. When he meets Destiny, he knows she’s the one he’s been searching for. To claim her, he will have to betray a friend, risk his life, and hardest of all, humble himself enough to win her love.

Excerpt:

I Hop J mowed-down the second of the biggest, rarest T-bones Destiny had ever seen. He ate as if he hadn’t eaten in days. Destiny noticed that J didn’t miss a beat in the conversation, yet his plate got emptier and emptier. She found herself staring at his throat, the muscles moving up and down as he chewed and swallowed. She wondered absently whether it was wrong to be drawn to his beauty when her inner voice kept telling her something about him wasn’t quite as it seemed, but oh, he was beautiful. No other word described him. In fact, he was unnaturally so. No man should have his looks. It just wasn’t fair. “…don’t you think so, Baby?” “W-what?” Lost in her own thoughts, she had missed her cue in the conversation. She glanced up, shifting her gaze too slowly from J’s throat to his eyes. His lips were tilted into a smile, and his eyes held a gleam of mischief. He had seen her watching him. Bastard. Robert offered her a tolerant smile. “I was telling J he’s staying with us. All the hotel rooms in this area are gonna be taken because of the convention.” Destiny could see the pleading in Robert’s eyes as he awaited her answer. The apartment was his, and while she stayed over with him at times, she had not felt convinced enough to agree to move in with him. She appreciated him at least giving the impression that her opinion mattered. The keyword there was impression, because he certainly should have discussed this idea with her before they reached the terminal, and certainly not with J’s unsettling gray eyes boring into her. Again, she thought, it wasn’t her place so she didn’t really have a say. She didn’t even have to be here, let alone at Robert’s apartment, and she could always go back to her place if she felt too uncomfortable. She glanced at him, then back at J. “Sure. Robert and I wouldn’t have it any other way.” She showed them a few teeth to seal the deal, then tried to focus her attention on the menu again. Well, there goes steering clear of him. “Don’t you guys want shakes? It’s a rhetorical question.” Destiny raised her hand to get the waitress’s attention. She still felt J’s gaze on her, but avoided looking in his direction. “No chocolate for you, Baby. Remember? You’re staying with me tonight, and caffeine keeps you awake.” Robert took a paternal tone, showing off. She wanted to slap the back of his head. As soon as the waitress came over, Destiny addressed her, drawing the woman’s attention away from J. The woman’s big blue eyed gaze seemed to have lit on him without her notice – like a pin to a strong magnet. Destiny had to raise her voice. “I’ll also have a chocolate shake, please.” She put emphasis on the word “chocolate.” J laughed and turned toward the waitress, who appeared to be enjoying the exchange. “I’ll have chocolate, too. Do you have chocolate cake also, miss?” The waitress blushed maroon, her hand going to her chest as she laughed, obviously affected by him. “Lily. My name is Lily.” She pointed to her name tag. J nodded and smiled before breaking the woman’s apparent trance. “Thank you, Lily. Do you have chocolate cake? I’d like to OD on chocolate. Can you help me do that, Lily?” “Oh!” She covered her mouth like a giddy teen. “Yes. Yes, I’ll bring your chocolate shake and chocolate cake over. We also have hot fudge and chocolate syrup, if you’d like to add one of those. On the house.” Destiny’s jaw nearly dropped. What the hell did he do to deserve his on the house? After Lily took J’s order for chocolate cake and a chocolate shake, she turned to Robert. By then, Destiny couldn’t help sharing a conspiratorial smile with J. His eyes seemed to dance, watching the exchange he’d instigated. She had to admit it. The man had charisma to burn. “Nothing for me.” Robert frowned, patting his slim middle with his palm as he silently judged them with his eyes. “I’m watching my weight, and I don’t have anywhere else to put it, anyway.” Destiny glared at him. He was already too thin for his height as far as she was concerned. Her weight topped his by at least 30 pounds. Hearing his comment about watching his weight grated like having lunch with a picky, pretentious size zero model. J, on the other hand, probably shopped in the Big and Tall shops. He was muscular and solid without being bulky, and he couldn’t seem to get enough to eat. Something about a man who liked to eat made her toes tingle, not to mention what it did to her other parts.

Cat Kincaid is obsessed with killing the man she believes is responsible for the torture and death of her sister, but when she eventually catches up with him, survival becomes a greater priority than revenge.
Kerry Marchant, haunted by memories, regret, and self-blame, shields himself from the pain of the past by committing himself totally to the starship, Destiny, of which he is part owner. However, the beautiful, red-haired woman who reminds him of his lost love, and who he suspects is working for a corrupt regime, represents a possible threat not only to the ship, but to his heart.
Marooned on an inhospitable planet, they need to work together to stay alive, fighting not only unknown assailants, but their growing attraction. But how can they learn to trust each other when he has vowed never to get close to a woman again, and she made a solemn pledge to destroy him?

EXCERPT

Before she could activate the weapon, Kerry let off another barrage of plasma bolts into the river. He leapt toward her and ripped the severed tentacle from her leg. It flapped around on the wet grass. She scrambled to her knees, still slightly winded, and fired at the hideous thing. The foliage around it flared briefly with an eerie green flame, and the tentacle shrivelled into a slimy black mass, emitting a pungent odour and causing her to gag.
“It seems I was mistaken about the creature being dead.” Kerry prodded the smouldering mass with his boot and looked across over the water. “It is now.” He leaned down and grasped her wrist to haul her to her feet. “Are you hurt?”
“No, I don’t think so.” Her shoulder was sore and probably bruised but she’d live.
She tried to control her shivering. The incident affected her more than she wanted to admit. Kerry’s proximity—naked to the waist, his lithe body shining from the water droplets that still clung to his skin, and his legs swathed in tight black leather—did nothing to help. The last thing she wanted was for him to realize how scared she’d been when she thought a snake attacked her.
“Thanks. That was close. It would have been a bit ironic if I’d been killed by the same creature I saved you from.”
She realized he still grasped her wrist. She tried to move away, but he pulled her back, obliging her to turn to him.
“You’re trembling.”
“I’m fine.”
“No,” he said. “You’re not.” He pulled her closer and his eyes softened, his gaze holding her mesmerized. She opened her mouth to try to speak, but in the same instant, he put his hand under her chin and his lips closed over hers.

CHARACTER BIOS

KERRY MARCHANT - By nature something of a ‘loner’, as a young boy, Kerry nevertheless formed a strong friendship with Jon Quinlan. This friendship continued through adulthood, although both were from vastly differing backgrounds, Kerry having been raised as an orphan and Jon being the son of a family possessed of enormous wealth.
Disillusioned by a vastly overpopulated and oppressed Earth, and combining Kerry’s computer skills, intellect and brilliant astrophysical knowledge, together with Jon’s limitless funds and leadership skills and contacts, they designed and built a magnificent exploratory starship, The Destiny. They assembled a crew of like-minded individuals and left earth to escape the tyranny of The Global Union of Earth and Allied Planets.
His role as second-in-command of the Destiny suits Kerry perfectly and although on good terms with the rest of the crew, Jon remains the only person Kerry feels he can really relate to. Never one to reveal his innermost feelings he is now even more withdrawn and morose, blaming himself for the loss of Jestine Darnell, the young woman with whom he fell in love, and who still haunts his memories. Cat Kincaid is a lovely, red haired complication he had not counted on and would prefer to do without – except that there is something about her that, despite his better judgement, he finds tantalizingly attractive and intriguing.
CAT KINCAID - Independent and single minded. Cat has learnt to trust no one and to rely on her wits to survive. Raised on Earth with her only sister, her comfortable life was turned upside down when her father deserted them.
After several years in space, she has things in her past, secrets, which it would be dangerous to reveal, and one in particular which she has made a solemn promise to keep safe and to protect with her life, rather than allow it to fall into the wrong hands.
Having been betrayed by a man she thought she could rely on, she has sworn never to let another close enough to break her heart again. There is one man, however, who she has sworn to track down and confront – the man responsible for her sister’s death. When she finally meets the handsome, blue eyed man she seeks, she is confused by conflicting emotions which have nothing to do with revenge.

AUTHOR BIO

Hywela Lyn most of her life in Wales and the beautiful countryside and legends did much to inspire her writing. Although she now lives in a small village in England, she is very proud of her Welsh heritage and background.
Her pen name is a combination of her first two names - 'Hywela’ is Welsh and her first name but it was never used and she has always been called by her second Christian name, Lyn, so she thought it was time ‘Hywela’ got an airing.
A hopeless romantic, she enjoys weaving romantic tales of the future, and distant, mysterious worlds, and one thing remains constant in her writing: The power of love. Love, not only between her heroes and heroines, but between friends and siblings, and for their particular world and the creatures that share it. This reflects her love of all animals, especially horses. She lives with her long suffering husband, Dave, and has two horses, a feral cat and an adopted lovable but slightly manic terrier called Choccy. (whose name also reflects her love of chocolate!)
Hywela Lyn’s debut novel, 'Starquest', a futuristic romance was published by The Wild Rose Press who also published her second book in the Destiny Trilogy, 'Children of the Mist'. ‘Beloved Enemy’ which continues the Destiny series is released on March 11th by the same publisher.

Why Do We Write BDSM Romance? ~ The Collared Collection by KD Grace @KD_Grace & Kay Jaybee @kay_jaybee #Rafflecopter #Giveaway

The Collared Collection
by
KD Grace & Kay Jaybee
@KD_Grace  &   @kay_jaybee

Why Do We Write BDSM Romance?
Thank you, Muffy, for inviting us to over to your place today to celebrate the release of our boxed set The Collared Collection. This two novel set combines our best selling BDSM erotic romance novels, The Voyeur and The Pet Shop.

Here’s the blurb
In The Pet Shop by K D Grace, in appreciation for a job well done, Stella James's boss sends her a pet, a human pet. The mischievous Tino comes straight from The Pet Shop complete with a collar, a leash, and an erection. Stella soon discovers the pleasure of keeping Pets, especially this one, it's extremely addicting. Obsessed with Tino and with the reclusive philanthropist, Vincent Evanston, who looks like Tino, but couldn't be more different, Stella is drawn into the secret world of The Pet Shop. As her animal lust awakens, Stella must walk the thin line that separates the business of pleasure from the more dangerous business of the heart or suffer the consequences.

In The Voyeur by Kay Jaybee, wealthy businessman and committed voyeur, Mark Parker, has a list of 13 fantasies he is intent on turning into reality. Travelling between his London flat, his plush Oxfordshire mansion, and Discreet, his favourite BDSM club; Mark is helped to realise his imaginatively dark erotic desires by two loyal members of his staff - his personal assistant, Anya Grant, and his housekeeper, Clara Hooper.

Upon the backs of his willing slaves, Mark has written out his fantasy list in thick red pen. Only Fantasy 12 awaits the tick of completion against their flesh before Mark's ultimate fantasy, Fantasy 13, can take place. But have the girls performed well enough to succeed in the final challenge? And what hold does Bridge's gentleman's club, Anya's previous employer and a place she was delighted to escape from, have over Mark?

In order to find out, the girls are going to have to face some of the fantasies they thought they had left behind them all over again.

Kay
There are many sub genres within the world of erotica, but for me it is the BDSM genre that has always been the most interesting to write. The possibilities within BDSM literature are boundless. I adore employing twists of submission and domination in my plotlines, and then using those plots to weave in an underlying love story. And, let’s face it- creating a tale with added ropes, ties, paddles, and gags is great fun from a writing perspective.
However, it is trust that underpins any BDSM relationship- and it is that concept that can lead to romance- albeit of a very particular variety. Trust HAS to have a lead role in any BDSM tale- although sometimes it isn’t always obvious to the reader at first...

KD
I’m a voyeur! I’ve admitted that to the world before, but what that means for me as a writer is that while I personally might not be comfortable with BDSM, some of my characters are, and they’re more than happy to let me watch and learn. Few of my characters have taught me more about BDSM and the D/s relationship than Tino with his strange and wonderful power exchange with Stella James. As I’ve become more experienced as an erotica writer and have had more of my characters teach me more and more about BDSM, I’ve discovered that what truly fascinates me about BDSM is not so much the implements. I find them irrelevant, for the most part; it’s that exchange of power that fascinates me, why it occurs and how. Why does Tino want to be in submission to Stella? Why does he want to be her Pet? And why, if he wants to submit to her, does he insist on being badly behaved from time to time? What is it about being punished that gets him there, so to speak?
It’s the psychology of a BDSM relationship that fascinates me, and the fact that as a writer, as a voyeur, I can observe without being drawn in … well actually that’s not true at all, if I listen to my characters, if I write the story they want me to write, I always get drawn in, and hopefully my readers will be to.

Bio - K D Grace
Voted ETO Best Erotic Author of 2014, and a proud member of The Brit Babes, K D Grace believes Freud was right. In the end, it really IS all about sex, well sex and love. And nobody’s happier about that than she is, otherwise, what would she write about?
When she’s not writing, K D is veg gardening. When she’s not gardening, she’s walking. She walks her stories, and she’s serious about it. She and her husband have walked Coast to Coast across England, along with several other long-distance routes. For her, inspiration is directly proportionate to how quickly she wears out a pair of walking boots. She also enjoys martial arts, reading, watching the birds and anything that gets her outdoors.
K D has erotica published with SourceBooks, Xcite Books, Harper Collins Mischief Books, Mammoth, Cleis Press, Black Lace, Sweetmeats Press and others.

Extract from The Pet Shop
Sure enough on the kitchen table was an instruction manual from The Pet Shop entitled, On Keeping Pets.
She opened it to the first chapter and read.
 Get to know your Pet.
Your experience will be more enjoyable if you take time to get to know each other, to get comfortable with each other before you initiate sexual contact. Pets, like people, have different personalities. Some may be shy and in need of some gentle coaxing before they get comfortable with their keeper. If your Pet is shy, do make sure he or she is comfortably acquainted with you before you initiate sexual contact.
If, however, your Pet is not shy, he or she may try to initiate sexual contact. DO NOT ALLOW THIS. It is the keeper who must choose when sex takes place. Your Pet must never be led to believe she or he is the alpha in the relationship. You must maintain control. No matter how aroused and uncomfortable your Pet may appear to be, do not allow even masturbation without your explicit permission. Your Pet is there for your pleasure. Even if your pleasures are voyeuristic, you must always be the initiator of the sex act. Permission is yours to grant or deny.
All Pets arrive at their keeper’s highly aroused and ready for sex play -- the males with erections, the females well lubricated and ready to accommodate a penis or a dildo.  But they are also well-trained to control themselves. Make sure that they do. This will enhance your pleasure as well as theirs.
Pets experience the world through their sense of smell, and they will get to know their keepers through that sense. Do not be nervous. Assume a relaxed position, preferably in a chair or on a sofa, with your legs open
Note: This should be done fully clothed.
Command your pet to sit on the floor next to you, then allow her or him to sniff you and touch you. Some pets will also want to lick and taste you. Remember, this contact is essential for your Pet to get to know you as PETS DO NOT TALK. Keep the mood light. Do not allow anything more than this initial contact until you and your Pet feel comfortable with each other. Only after this occurs should your interaction be of a sexual nature.
Stella felt something warm and wet against her hand and looked down to see Tino kneeling next to her, his tongue flicking over her finger tips, his eyes locked on her face.
‘I’m sorry, Tino. It’s just I’ve never had a Pet before.’ She reached out and stroked his head.
Still holding her gaze, he stood and led her back to the lounge. When she sat in the recliner, he sat on the floor in front of her, watching her expectantly, shifting uncomfortably around the weight of his distended penis, clenching his buttocks and rocking his hips. She couldn’t take her eyes off such blatant, insinuating sexuality. With a little gasp of surprise, she realized her own hips were rocking, rubbing her swollen cunt against the chair.
‘I’m sorry, Tino,’ she shoved to her feet, tearing her gaze away from the gorgeously horny man sitting on the floor by her chair. ‘But I just can’t do this. If I had known what Anne, what Strigida had planned for me, I would have never consented, surely Anne knew that. Anyway, I feel really bad that I’ve wasted your time, but this is just not something I can do.’
The pet only looked up at her with adoring and expectant eyes.
“I’ll gladly give you taxi fare home, of course. I mean that’s the least I can do. None of this is your fault, after all. Anne told me that you were a gift, so I assume you’ve already been paid.’ She raced through the last sentence breathlessly, her face burning at the very thought that the company had paid for a prostitute for her.
Did they really think she was that desperate? And never mind how desperate she was, surely she had worked at Strigida long enough for them to realize this was not the gift for her. And she was bloody well certain Anne knew that. There would definitely be words when she returned from Bath. ‘Is that alright, if we do that? If we just call it even and I get you a cab home?’
Tino made no response. Instead, he rubbed his cheek affectionately against her leg and moved to sit back on his haunches, a position that made his erection look even more enormous, bulging heavily against his thigh. At the sight, her stomach muscles tensed low and tight and her pussy clenched and half convulsed.
‘I forgot,’ she looked down at the manual still gripped in one hand, ‘Pet’s don’t talk. But since I really don’t want a Pet, couldn’t you break the rules just this once?’
He brushed her leg again with his cheek, then with his lips, making delicious shivers run up her spine.
‘Guess not. Okay. Well, I realize this is an awkward situation, Tino, and I’m really sorry about that. I know you’re expected to stay here. I appreciate your position. Really I do. I’m sure we’ll get through this if we work together.’ She nodded down the hall. ‘I have a guestroom. You’re welcome to sleep there. It’s small, but comfortable.’ He followed her on silent feet, and looked on as she showed him the guestroom.

Extract from The Voyeur
His evening meal complete, Mark sat back, contentedly sipping his cup of strong black coffee. Pulling a small, battered notebook from his pocket, he read thoughtfully for a moment. His self-restraint, although immense, was beginning to run out. It was time for them to progress to the end of the list. Pressing the intercom button, Mark summoned his personal assistant, Anya, and his housekeeper, Clara, to the dining room.
The women arrived swiftly, both aware of the importance of not keeping Mark waiting. Standing on the opposite side of the highly polished dining room table, his employees braced themselves for the coming instructions.
‘I have decided that we will take a trip to Discreet this evening. We will turn our attention to the next fantasy on my list. Fantasy 12.’ Mark’s cool blue eyes deliberately weighed up the reaction of his staff as he delivered his news.
Discreet was the reason that Mark spent such a large proportion of his time in his London flat, rather than in his mini-mansion in Oxfordshire, where his software business was based. It was only at Discreet, the most exclusive of the city’s BDSM clubs, that his increasingly imaginative fantasies could be publically appreciated; most of which involved the observation of other people’s erotic aspirations. Mark Parker was the ultimate voyeur.
Trying hard not to exchange glances with her  colleague, Anya could sense the stiffening of Clara’s body as they listened to their boss. She knew that Clara’s mind, like her own, would already be racing; madly trying to guess what Mark’s latest erotic scenario would involve. Having survived fantasies one to eleven, they already understood the nature of the challenges they were likely to experience during the evening that loomed ominously ahead.
‘Anya, you will be less delighted than Clara, perhaps, when I tell you that this trip is intended as a lesson for you; possibly a punishment.’
Forgetting herself for a second, the PA lifted her head and stared Mark squarely in the face.
His lips smiled; his eyes, however, did not. ‘You wonder why? Why, when you are forever questioning my instructions?’
‘But Mark, I …’ Anya stopped talking, aware that by asking why she was simply proving his point. She could feel her nipples hardening beneath her white shirt, as her employer continued to stare at her.
‘Oh my dear Anya, you may never question me out loud.’ Mark’s voice was velvety soft, yet the potential danger of disagreeing with him shone in his eyes. ‘But I know that you constantly query my actions by your reaction to them. Subconscious or not, it has to stop.’
Anya couldn’t believe it; she had always been so dutiful. The perfect assistant. The willing slave. How could Mark know she privately questioned her existence; her choice at being here with him and Clara, living this less than “ordinary” existence?
Clara was hovering uncomfortably next to Anya as Mark came closer. ‘Tonight,’ he said, pulling off Anya’s shirt and bra, exposing her luscious chest to the cool of the room, ‘you will both face a combination of experiences that together make up Fantasy 12. Won’t it be lovely to be able to tick another task from our list, girls?’
They didn’t answer; experience had taught them that nine times out of ten his questions were rhetorical.
Mark twisted the women round; removing Clara’s top as he did so, so he could see both his employees’ bare backs. There, in neat script, a permanent pen had been used to write “Fantasy 1”, “Fantasy 2” and so on, all the way down – the numbers following the length of their spines, finishing with the words “Fantasy 13”. The first 11 rows of black lettering had bright red ticks next to them.
‘Only two more tasks to go.’
This time the girls risked a fleeting glance at each other, exchanging a look of mutual blood-hammering exhilaration twinned with an erotic anticipation it would have been hypocritical to deny.
Mark, during his brief periods of leisure, had painstakingly detailed many lust-driven scenarios he wished to both direct and bring to life. He often wrote notes, accompanied by intricate diagrams of erotic, slightly disturbing, but ultimately satisfying fantasies, in a leather-bound journal that only he was allowed to read.
Anya and Clara knew that the final fantasy, when it came, would be both more difficult and different to anything they’d ever previous experienced. They feared it. They also longed for it. Mark was a clever man, for as each new task unfolded he pushed his faithful staff along with him, darkening their desires and needs closer and closer to his own. Making them as keen as he was to see how far they could go. To see how much they could physically take as they accompanied Mark on his journey of extreme sexual sightseeing.
A cold, clammy sheen of perspiration broke out on Anya’s face, arms, and breasts as Mark danced a finger across her skin. ‘You will both go to your room and change into the clothes I’ve placed upon your beds. You will remain there until I call you.’ Mark pointed to the door, and his employees headed to their small, twin-bedded room without a sound.
As she considered some of the things she and Clara had been required to do over the last six months, Anya privately reassured herself that the trepidation shooting down her spine was understandable and acceptable. It was also irrational, for she knew that Fantasy 12 might not only be tolerable, but enjoyable; and that just because the end of the list was in sight, it didn’t mean the night ahead would involve anything worse than she’d survived before. She could handle this. They both could – no problem.
Then Anya saw her outfit.
Her bed supported nothing but a leather dog collar...
