I am going to Hell for this one, and I selected the photo for the group! You'da thought I had a clue what to write, but I didn't. So, I am going with what DID come into my mind.

There are a number of great authors participating this week. Please be kind and go visit their posts on this challenge--this photo and a mere 100 words to work with. Leave a comment to encourage, please and thank you. The link is all over and they are listed like sins one-by-one below. Gotta love it!

When She Said Nun, She Didn't Mean None
Sister MarieRose knew Father Mike was mustering out of the priesthood. He was married to the God our Father but just could not keep the purity of the faith. He had a wandering “eye” that had been the source of much subjective concern—both good and baddepending.

Dear Sister MarieRose drank just enough liquid courage, having been goaded on by her college sorority sisters, to send the good father unfrocked but not unfucked into civilian life with a little experience under his robe.

She went into the wrong side of his confessional.

“Forgive me Father for you are about to sin.”

A Taste of Thursday, 18 December 2014 ~ The Brutal Master and The Charmer

This Taste of Thursday brings us to the calm after the storm of Talia's memorial service. It was a perfect day but life does go on without consent from us. Life is a brutal master and teaches us everything-about loss, love, growth and fear. Then there is charm.

Simon calls to assure Jordan that he has moved forward with the donor testing, in spite of the emotional demands upon his heart and time, and suggests that Jordan bring Lily to Chicago to await the results of his donor tests. If it is good news, they all will celebrate. If it is not, they will reassure Lily that they were many now and an answer would be found for her. There is always hope. And, I am a bit long, so settle in.....

Please read and comment then have a visit to the other participating authors posts to read a sample of their WIP. Love is the answer. Where there is love, there is hope. The link to their posts is everywhere and they are listed below like heartbeats.

Happy Holidays.
Enjoy ~  ☼ o√ ¸.¨¯`*..*˜"*°
The Charmer

“Simon, how can we do that? The other children, Lily - you and me? Are you sure that is wise?”

“Yes, Jordan, I have never been more sure of anything in my life. It is an offer Talia would have made herself…I know that now. She knew about you. You couldn’t know that I told her when she and I got back together. We were separated at the time--when I met you. She understood. Of course, she never knew about Lily, but then neither did I. I don’t say that to hurt you, just to recount the past. None of that matters now, anyway, but it did to me then. When I came back to her, it was as an equal, as we started. She had to know that I loved her more than any other and I wanted to be with her and our daughter. I would not live with an ultimatum or subjugation, nor would I ask that of anyone else.”

“Oh, Simon…wha…what can I say?”

“There is nothing to say, Jordan. This was a decade ago, but my wife and I resolved our issues and had a wonderful life, along with two more beautiful children. We had great life; the children had great lives. But, life is a brutal master. It is what it is and we are destined to live it out. Will you come…and bring Lily?”

“Of course, Simon. When would you have us? I’ll make arrangements.”

“I’ll take care of everything and let you know. I would think it would be good to be here three or so days before we get the results back. Can you arrange your schedule accordingly?”

“Yes, Simon, yes. I’ve not been taking many appointments since Lily got worse. I have just been going through the motions for her sake.”

“Jordan, do you need any money, anything at all?”

“NO! Simon, no thank you. We are fine. I am independent in my own and my parents left me very comfortable.”

“I apologize. I meant no offense…”

“None taken. If all I needed was money, I would have figured something out. I hope you know that. I came to you because you have the one thing no one else does.”

“And that would be?”

“Paternity. You gave her your genes when we gave her life. She won’t live without them.”

“Get ready to come ‘for a visit’. I’ll prepare my kids, you prepare Lily. You can stay in town or in the guest house. Whatever feels right to you.”

“Okay, Simon. I will start keeping Lily in the loop about what is happening and the developments. I’ll tell her we are going to Chicago to meet you. I think it is a good plan, as good as is possible.”

“Jordan, don’t second guess yourself. Telling Lily was not only instinctual, but the right thing to do. I think it is singularly the reason everything else is coming together. You are a wonderful mother, Jordan. Lily is a very lucky little girl.”

“Simon, I….”

“Jordan, I’ll have Ms Meriwether call you with the details when I know them. I’ll call you when the screening is completed. May I tell Lily you are coming here and why before I hang up?”

“Yes, Simon. I think that would be a good idea. Let me call her.”

“Lily-bear? Lily? Would you come here please? Mr Simon wants to tell you something and say good night.”

“Okay, Mummy, I’m coming!”

And the patter of small jubilant socked-feet carried her daughter down the hall and into a sliding screeching halt at her desk.

“Lily! Here, honey.”

“Hi, Mr Simon. Did you want me?”

“Yes, Lily. Your Mummy thought it would be a good idea if you came here for a visit, so we could meet. She thought you would want to ’check me out’, she said. Do you know what she means by that?”

“Oh, yes, Mr Simon, I do. And she is right. She’s always right, actually.”

“Okay, then. Your Mom and I will make the arrangements and you will be here in a few weeks. Do you like horses?”

“Oh, YES, Mr Simon, I do!”

“Well, I have three children, whom you will meet, and I just happen to have horses. Would you like to go for a ride?”

“Just one?”

“As many as you like!”

“Oh, yes, Mr Simon, yes!”

“Okay, then, that’s a plan! Put your Mom back on, please, Lily-Bird.”

“Mummy! Mr Simon called me Lily-Bird! Isn’t that funny? You call me that! And he has horses! He wants to talk to you!”

“Hello, Mr Simon, ….Lily, get back to your card so I can send it to Mr Simon…Thank you, Simon. You managed to make it seem like a trip to Disneyland. I can’t thank you enough for helping me—for helping Lily. You have, indeed, turned on the charm.”

“Let’s not go there too fast, Jordan. I am not sure who is charming whom!”

Tantalyzing Tuesday Teasers, 16 December 2014 ~ Night Dreams

Tantalyzing Tuesday Teasers...one of my favorite days of the week. I get to select a photo of my choice that speaks to me and this one always has. I love this photo. It speaks to me of love, passion and desire. The longing to be with someone who is far away, only separated by moonbeams and stardust.

There are a number of other authors participating in today's challenge. Go, ride your passion to their page and see what photo inspired them, challenged them, spoke to them in ways only silence can. The link is everywhere or they are listed like diamonds of the heart below.

Happy Holidays and Blessings...
Enjoy  o√ ¸.¨¯`*..*˜"*°

Night Dreams
I am the night, you are my galaxy. Come to me as I lay my breath upon your breast and embrace you into the darkness of dreams and the light of love. Release the sun into the fading day; give yourself into my heart and share the imaginings of lovers everywhere as they welcome the dark watchful eye of the night.

Share my dreams, ride my wishes; come to me on my prayers of love and desire. You are what I am, what I need to be to make me whole as I come into you. We will soar the galaxy, riding comets of passion on rapids made of moonbeams and stars. Come dream the night away with me. We will claim the sky and make love among the Gods until the darkness fades and delivers a bright new morning.

We will slide along golden ribbons of sunbeams to land between sunflowers and dance in beds of wooded clover. Lay with me and make love to the rhythm of the Earth as the Sun warms our hearts and souls.

Let me be your future, let me be your love.

I will cherish you forever or at least until the final star fades to black amidst Eternity.

Flash Fiction Friday, 12 December 2014 ~ A Beautiful Gift

Flash Fiction Friday and we have a beautiful photograph as our subject photo. You know one photo for all the participating writers and a 100 word limit. It is not easy, trust me. I have gone a little off the beaten path, at least for me.

Hope you enjoy my piece. Have a quick entertaining read and then sashay over to my friends and see what they have written for you. They are listed in the link below or one-by-beautiful one, like tears of sorrow.

Enjoy ~  ☼ o√ ¸.¨¯`*..*˜"*°
A Beautiful Gift
“Where?”

“Under the south pillars of the Calahootchie Bridge in the swampy marsh and fetid water. She’d been ravaged, first by her assailant then by nature.”

“I don’t want her mother to see her like this. The torture of losing her daughter is one thing to live with, but this? This is cruel. I’m afraid we’ll need dental records to ID her.”

“You’re right. She should imagine returning her daughter to God they way He sent her to live with her Mother.”

“I want her Mother to remember her as she was in life—joyful, sweet, pure—a beautiful gift.”

“Hmmmmm……….maybe someday.”

A Taste of Thursday, 11 December 2014 ~ Will There Be Ponies?

A Taste of Thursday saddles in with another look at Taylor. This is an opportunity to review a bit of a WIP as we hope to hear from you whether you like what we are doing or not.

400 words is the limit. I usually violate that somewhat, sometimes a lot. Like today...

They are preparing for the memorial reception Talia planned the year before for herself. She wanted it to be a celebration of life--her life and the lives of her family. And it was. Being strong takes great strength of will--and love. Read mine then visit the other authors offerings. They are so talented. It is awesome to be counted among them.

Happy Holidays.

"Will There Be Ponies?"
There was not a hiccup in the celebration of Talia’s life, except for the one instance that six year old Lianna asked her father again about riding the ponies. She was insistent but reason, and bribery, prevailed. Yes, it was a party, he explained, but Simon promised, anyway, to take her riding in the morning with the other children.

The day did not seem as long and as it did tiresome, draining actually, as it actually was. It was such an effort, not to show his love for Talia, but to show appreciation for everyone else’s love for Talia. Simon was exhausted when he finally fell into bed that night.

Everything seemed so normal as he walked through the house, bid Maddie a good night and entered his master ensuite. Everything was normal except Talia would never be here again…and yet she was everywhere.

He acknowledged his new normal and was so grateful for his children, their routines and their need for him to pretend to be fine. The truth was, his truth was, he would never be fine again, not in the way he was comfortable for the last fifteen years.

Simon began to prepare for bed. He took off his suit and hung it up on the same suit hanger he had taken it from that morning. He hung up the pants after emptying the pockets and placing everything on his silent butler. He tossed his shirt in the laundry basket and hung up his jacket. As Simon put the hanger with the suit back into the protective bag, he saw the kerchief she had placed in the breast pocket. As an afterthought, he whipped it out of the pocket and he saw something golden flip out and tumble through the air, falling to the tile floor. He heard, rather than saw, where it pinged when it hit the porcelain tile and looked in the general direction.

He found the simple gold wedding band perched on the plush carpet in front of Talia’s dressing room, like a shrine to her being. He bent and picked it up. It was her wedding band. It was from the set they selected when they were first wed. He had long since replaced it with a beautiful full five carat emerald cut pink diamond in a simple eighteen carat gold setting flanked by  two half-carat baguettes and a wedding band with three half-carat matching pink diamond stones - one for each of the children. But, this one, the one she had secreted in his breast pocket, was the ring that she always considered her wedding band. This was her real wedding ring. This was the ring that sealed their love in God’s eyes forever. She always wore it on a gold chain around her neck; he assumed it was there still. Obviously, she made other arrangements for it.

No, everything was not normal; there would never be another  “normal’. And yes, she would never be here again….and, yet, she was still everywhere. She always would be. It was then, sitting on the tuffet in her dressing room, that he felt her absence most profoundly. His sadness was overwhelming; his loss was forever. In a singular moment of clarity and contradiction, he was filled with emptiness.

Once Loved
The sun split the morning darkness over the Bayou and peeked into our bedroom, awakening me. I left our bed and opened the French doors, the fragrance of the morning air embraced me in your absence. I took my coffee on the veranda, I looked about the spring of life, abundant around me and I felt the stir. The honeysuckles, azaleas, wisteria and, of course, roses were in full bloom.

The bouquet created a heady aroma that tempts ladybugs and hummingbirds into a delicate dance for a petaled kiss. I miss you so, my darling, but feel your presence all around me, within me.

The hot morning and sultry humidity left a glisten of moisture on my skin, like a soft kiss, your kiss. I heard the bayou lap gently against the jetty, awakening all to her embrace with a rhythm not unlike your touch, as you would stroke me, easing my body into the day with your love.

Each too short day was filled with passion before you left, but not before you gave me the greatest gift. This gift of life so dear, so treasured. It is life, to be loved.

Some things, once loved become ours, once loved become us.
